The Center for Applied Energy Research e.V. (CAE) is working on practical solutions for a climate-neutral energy future. A current example of the successful combination of research and implementation is the new research and innovation building of Renz Solutions GmbH, which was publicly funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The building is a flagship project: it demonstrates how the use of day/night temperature differences, photovoltaics with integrated solar thermal energy, combined heat and cold storage with phase change materials and intelligent control technologies can be used to make buildings virtually energy self-sufficient and emission-free - both in the residential and commercial sectors.
