Nachfolgend wird über das vor kurzem gestartete Forschungsprojekt „Produktions- und Organisations- flexibilisierung im Life Cycle" (ProfiL) informiert, das im Rahmenkonzept „Forschung für die Pro- duktion von morgen" im Wettbewerbsfeld „Integrierte Modernisierung von Organisation und Führung produzierender Unternehmen" durchgeführt wird. Zielstellung von ProfiL ist, ein KMU-gerechtes Gesamtkonzept zu entwickeln, das es ermöglicht, ein Unternehmen mit mehr Selbst- organisation sicher in die Zukunft zu führen und seine nachhaltige Weiterentwicklung sicherzu- stellen.// 
A description is given of the recently initiated research project “Increased Flexibility in Production and Organisation through the Life Cycle” (ProfiL) which falls within the framework con- cept “Research into the Production Methods of Tomorrow”. This is part of the wider competitiveness strategy “Integrated Modernisation of Orga- nisations and Management of Manufacturing Businesses”. The aim of the ProfiL project is to develop an overall concept suitable for SME’s, allowing a business to embody a high degree of self-organisation and thus to ensure its long-term survival and future evolution.
