Die Herausforderung für ein optimales MID-Design ist hierbei die gleichzeitige Berücksichtigung herstellungsspezifischer Anforderungen und die Integration der Vorteile der MID-Technologie. Innovative Serienapplikationen in unterschiedlichen Produktfeldern verdeutlichen die Fortschritte im Bereich der Strukturierung, der Metallisierung, der Aufbau- und Verbindungstechnik, aber vor allem der Kunststoffe. Insbesondere im Bereich der Sensorapplikationen ermöglicht die Anwendung von MID ideale Lösungskonzepte. Neue MID-Entwicklungen müssen entsprechend den Anforderungen der verschiedenen Branchen forciert werden. // 
Molded Interconnect Devices offer huge potential for optimisation of production processes and complete systems. The requirements for an optimal MID design thus include not only a consideration of production-specific issues, but also a wider inte- gration of the advantages of MID technology. Inno- vative mass-production applications in a wide range of product areas emphasise advances in patterning, metallication, assembly and interconnection technologies, but above all, in the use of plastics. Sensors, perhaps more than any other application, benefit from application of MID technology. Novel MID developments must, according to the requirements of the end-use in question, be strongly sup- ported.
