Charakterisierung von Iridium- und Iridiumlegierungsschichten für Kontaktanwendungen
Das Ziel dieses gemeinsamen Forschungsvorhabens war es, neue Oberflächen auf Iridium-Basis zu entwickeln. Die Beschichtungen sollen als Verschleiß- oder Korrosionsschutz im elektrischen Kontaktbereich eingesetzt werden. Als Mitglied der Platinmetalle zeichnet sich Iridium durch eine gute Korrosionsbeständigkeit und hohe Härte aus, zugleich ist es günstiger als Gold oder Platin. Diese Eigenschaften des Iridiums machen es interessant, Gold-, Goldlegierungs- und auch Platinschichten zu substituieren. //The objective of this cooperative research project was to develop novel surface types based on iridium. The coatings shall be utilized as wear and corrosion protection measures in the realm of electrical contacts. As a member of the platinum metals, iridium is char- acterized by its good corrosion resistance and high hardness. At the same time it is less expensive than gold or platinum. These properties make iridium an interesting alternative as a substitute material for gold, gold allays and also platinum coatings.
