Stand der Technik bei Versiegelungen und Topcoats

Moderne Korrosionsschutzsysteme für metallische Werkstücke sind modular aufgebaut und bestehen typischerweise aus einer ersten Schicht Zink oder Zink- Legierung für den kathodischen Korrosionsschutz des Grundmetalls, einer Cr(III)-Konversionsschicht sowie einer Versiegelung oder einem Topcoat als ab- schließende Schicht. Einzig diese letzte Schicht ist dabei in unmittelbaren Kontakt mit der Umgebung und kann so die Eigenschaften des gesamten Korrosionsschutzsystems durch ihre Multifunktionalität maßgeblich beeinflussen. Auf diesen multifunktionalen Korrosionsschutz angewiesen sind insbesondere Verbindungselemente für den Automobilbereich, da diese in ihrem Lebenszyklus einer Vielzahl an potentiell schädigenden Beanspruchungen durch ihre Umgebung ausgesetzt sind. Dazu gehört der Angriff durch korrosive Medien, thermische- und auch mechanische Belastungen.//
With the purpose to best protect steel substrates, the composition of a modern corrosion protection system is modular. A layer of electroplated zinc or zinc alloy is in direct contact with the substrate and acts as the cathodic protection layer, preventing oxidation of the metallic substrate. A thin Cr(III) conversion coating further increases the corrosion resistance and can change the optical aspect of the part. A final layer of a topcoat or sealer completes the system. Only this last coating layer is in direct contact with the environment and influences largely the properties of the whole protection system. Specially for fasteners used in the automotive assembly, this multifunctional corrosion protection layer is of highest importance, since those parts will endure a multitude of potentially damaging impacts from their environment during their product lifetime. Corrosive media, heat and mechanical stress are only some examples for those impacts.
