Interview of the month: Katja Stolle, electronica project manager

This year, electronica can once again take place in presence. What are you most looking forward to and what highlights can visitors expect?

My team and I are very pleased that we can finally welcome the global electronics industry back to Munich in person after a four-year break from live events! In 14 halls - including one hall for SEMICON, which is taking place at the same time - visitors will get a complete overview of the latest technologies and trends in electronics. In addition to the exhibition area, highlights include the extensive supporting program with top-class conferences, practical forums, the CEO Roundtable and platforms for young talents.

What experiences (positive and negative) did you take away from virtual electronica?

At the virtual electronica, the digital forum and conference program in particular was very well received. But of course there is no substitute for the personal trade fair experience. For example, when it comes to seeing exhibits live and talking about them directly with the exhibitors. We adopted one feature in 2022: The online exhibitor portal has been significantly expanded so that companies can present themselves there even more extensively and visitors can prepare and follow up their day at the trade fair more easily.

The electronics industry is also currently facing the problem of rapidly rising energy costs. To what extent does this affect (or affect) the trade fair?

Of course, the trade fair is not spared. Messe München has been dealing with the issue of energy saving and energy supply for a long time. The aim is to reduce energy consumption as much as possible and to operate sustainably. The current energy crisis underpins our goal of being climate-neutral by 2030. At the same time, the industry will be showcasing technologies at electronica that will make a decisive contribution to mastering the challenges and requirements of the energy transition.
