Barbara Müller, Exhibition Director Messe München, spoke to us about the highlights of productronica (see productronica 2025 - Anniversary and current key topics).
50 years of productronica ... How does Messe München look back on this proud anniversary?
In 1975, productronica was separated from electronica when the whole topic of manufacturing technology became established. Initially, the focus was on SMT technologies, later on digital integration, lean manufacturing, chip miniaturization and Industry 4.0. Today, we are talking about increasing automation and AI. At the same time, productronica grew and moved to the new exhibition grounds in 1998. The new hall structure offered different stand construction possibilities. New partners were also added. Above all, the Productronic division of the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) enriched the trade fair as an ideal sponsor and provider of technical ideas. Together, we developed the trend and key themes of power electronics, advanced packaging and microelectronics for 2025.
"productronica remains the world's leading trade fair."
In 1975, productronica began with 94 exhibiting companies from twelve countries and 3,900 visitors. What will it look like in 2025?
We are expecting over 1,500 exhibitors - another increase compared to 2023. We are also expecting over 40,000 trade visitors from 90 countries.
What are your hopes and expectations for the trade fair in the run-up to the event?
At the beginning of the year, the mood was still cautious, but it is now cautiously optimistic. As a trade fair, we try to reflect the needs of the industry. Our key topics are discussed at the Innovation Forum, as well as at the PCB and EMS Marketplace. We have an amazingly large number of exhibitors from this sector. All in all, productronica remains the world's leading trade fair where everyone meets. We offer exhibitors a sustainable trade fair concept and an ideal environment for acquiring new customers.
