Kyocera Fineceramics Europe, a supplier of high-performance ceramic components for the technology industry headquartered in Mannheim, expanded its existing production facilities at the beginning of the year with a new site in Erfurt in order to expand the field of multi-wire sawing for cutting brittle-hard materials.
In addition to processing its own ceramic products, Kyocera will also include contract processing of customer materials in its portfolio in the future. The company sees semiconductor production and testing as target markets. The environmental technology division, in which Kyocera develops and manufactures exhaust air scrubbers and neutralization systems, among other things, is also moving from Mannheim to Erfurt. According to Armin Kayser, one of the two managing directors of Kycocera Fineceramics Europe, the new location will help to expand the company's market presence, particularly in semiconductor applications.
The decision in favor of Erfurt was made due to the well-equipped new production areas, which offer additional potential for expansion. Marco Burkhardt will take over the management of the new facility, which will initially employ twelve people.
