PCB manufacturer relies on new laminating press

A new press for multilayer coating is now in use at PCB manufacturer ILFA. The owner-managed company, headquartered in Hanover, had the almost 14-tonne InduBond X-Press 360 laminating press supplied by Barcelona-based company Indubond at the beginning of June 2023.

The inductively heated induction press has two separate, independent loading chutes and generates the heat for curing the composite materials directly on the material, eliminating the thermal delay of conventional presses. This means that pre-programmed parameters can be precisely adhered to. According to ILFA, the press is extremely compact, which significantly reduces its footprint. The decision to purchase the press was primarily based on its energy efficiency: the press requires around 70-80% less energy than conventional multilayer presses. High temperatures of up to 450°C can be achieved for special products. During the pressing process, this generates a high, uniform hydraulic pressure of up to 75 kg per cm2 at an optimum vacuum level, which is achieved by a special single frame design.

ILFA has been producing ultra-fine and micro-fine conductor solutions in the high-tech segment for national and international customers for over 40 years. The range of services includes CAD services for the design of prototypes and small series through to the further development of large series. Depending on the application, the design is carried out as a classic rigid, flexible or rigid-flexible printed circuit board, also in the high layer range. ILFA realizes complex hybrid structures and electro-optical printed circuit boards and offers embedding of components or the integration of fluid channels. Customers include national and international research institutes, companies from the aerospace, industrial electronics, medical technology and automotive industries, innovators from the robotics, sensor and satellite technology segments as well as creative small companies.
