In the European university design competition 'Formula Students' for racing car construction, students from TU Darmstadt achieved second place overall with their 'Dart Racing' team in the electric, driverless 'Driverless Cup FS CZ' in the Czech Republic on August 12.
In the competition, students design, manufacture and drive a single-seater racing car as a team and compete against rivals from all over the world. The winner is not the team with the fastest formula car, but the one with the best overall package in terms of design, performance on the track, cost planning and economy. 'Formula Students' therefore demands interdisciplinary skills from the participants.
The good performance of the Darmstadt students in the Czech Republic is based on the fact that they were able to win the first three places in the Acceleration, Skidpad and Autocross disciplines out of a total of 13 individual areas in the competition. These successes were also achieved thanks to the "high-quality and quickly delivered stencils" from SMD stencil manufacturer Photocad, as Marcel Garbrech, Head of Electrical Engineering & IT at 'Dart Racing', emphasizes.
