Information
The importance of pickling for the metalworking and processing industry is based on the fact that it is used at least once, but very often several times, to pre-treat the metal surface before further processing in almost every manufacturing process. After heat treatment, welding, soldering or prolonged storage, metal surfaces usually need to be pickled if they are to be phosphated, burnished, electroplated, hot-dip galvanised, enamelled, temporarily protected or preserved. They also often need to be cleaned by pickling before particularly precise mechanical treatments or visual inspections.
Like any modern manufacturing technology, pickling must also meet important requirements in terms of cost-effectiveness, quality and environmental compatibility. In order to meet these requirements, production planners, process engineers, surface technicians, inspectors and others involved in production need not only an overview of existing processes and options, but also specific guidance for their practical work. This book aims to fulfil this task.
