Information
In these fast-moving times, specialist books can very quickly become outdated.
The first edition, published in 1998, presented the state of the art in the 1990s. Since then, industrial experience has been gained with the new MSA-based catalysts, which is described in line with the current state of the art. Progress has also been made in terms of low-waste or waste-free applications. Practical application examples are described in greater detail than in the first edition. The scope of the tables required for chrome plating in practical operation has been expanded. Many practical tips, including the investigation of causes of damage and troubleshooting, have been revised and updated.
The function of corrosion protection through micropores in decorative chrome layers on plastic is described according to the latest knowledge. The same applies to the test methods for short-term testing.
Due to the discussions surrounding chromium(VI), further current recycling techniques have been described. It should be emphasised once again that electroplated chromium does not cause any harmful reactions when deposited.
This book can be used to help decide whether an electroplating process offers technical or economic advantages over other technologies. The fundamentals and information for research have also been supplemented and updated. Conversion tables in non-metric units have been introduced. Sulphur measurements have been revised in line with practical requirements.
