Information
The development of electroplating is described. Historical findings show that electroplating processes were already known centuries before the Common Era. However, Jacobi is considered the founder of electroplating technology, and 1840 is regarded as the birth year of electroplating processes. It was only with the invention of the dynamo by Werner von Siemens that electroplating processes became economically viable for use throughout industry.
This book provides a concise description of the development of galvanic coatings and electrolytes from their beginnings to the modern era.
