Information
A bibliographic treasure. Limited edition of 500 individually numbered and hand-signed copies, gold edging and gold embossing with slipcase.
The book ‘Die Galvanoplastik’ (Electrotyping) by Jacobi, published in 1840, is extremely rare and has special historical significance. Moritz Hermann von Jacobi is considered the founder of electrotyping. The year 1838 can also be considered the birth of electrotyping, as it was in this year that Jacobi presented the results of his experiments in producing exact copies of medals and commemorative coins using electrolytic methods. It was now practically possible to make copies of metallic objects, and he described the process in 1840 in the book presented here as a facsimile edition.
