Information
The dyeing of metal objects remains an integral part of many sectors of metalworking manufacturing today. Despite the most modern production techniques, the technology used for this is largely based on empirical knowledge, experience and trials. For this reason, descriptions of processes, techniques and recipes are of great value to anyone interested in metal dyeing.
For this reason, O. P. Krämer's book Rezepte für die Metallfärbung und Metallüberzüge ohne Stromquelle (Recipes for dyeing and coating metals without a power source) has enjoyed great popularity in recent years due to its practical orientation and has been reprinted seven times since 1990. Although the recipes and information in this work are still relevant today, it was necessary to incorporate more recent experiences and take into account the advances made in recent years.
In addition to a series of new recipes and instructions for chemical metal dyeing, the possibility of depositing colour layers by electrolytic deposition has been added. A new section on burnishing in alkaline solution has also been included, as it was interesting to explore the technological aspects of this treatment in greater depth. The concept is to design the procedures and descriptions discussed in such a way that they take into account not only the dyeing of metals in the industrial sphere, but also specifically in the commercial sphere.
