The causes of damage to galvanised parts are extremely varied; sources of error can be identified, for example, in the design, layout and manufacture of the parts.
The investigations into the damage cases were carried out at the Institute for Materials Science at Darmstadt Technical University.
The work can be used to create a damage file. The damage cases are sorted by coating metals. The damage is shown in each case, the results of the investigation are described and the cause of the damage is discussed. Recommendations for remedying such damage are then provided. The descriptions are supplemented by extensive photographic material.
