Dr. Andreas Fath
Furtwangen University
Dr. Andreas Fath studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg, where he obtained his doctorate in 1996 under Prof. Peter Comba with a thesis on the chemistry of macrocyclic polythiaethers and their application as selective complexing agents. After completing a DAAD research project "Design and synthesis of superoxide dismutase model enzymes" at the University of Valencia, he joined the University of Vienna in 1997 as a research assistant in the development of inorganic pharmaceuticals.
- Fields of work: Environmental and process engineering; material analysis/surface engineering, water treatment, water analysis
- From 2000-2011, he was head chemist at Hansgrohe SE, responsible for new product, process and surface developments. In 2011, he received the Fraunhofer Umsicht Science Award for an electrochemical process for PFT degradation.
- From 1998 to 2000, he was employed as a junior scientist at the Institute for Microstructure Technology at the Karlsruhe Research Center and worked on the development, process management and process control of alloy electroplating for micro electroforming.
- In October 2011, Dr. Andreas Fath was appointed Professor of Physical Chemistry at the university. As part of the "Rhine Water" project, the "floating professor in the Rhine" drew attention to water protection, which his research group is currently working on.
- Teaching activities: Physical Chemistry/Analytics; General Inorganic Chemistry; Organic Chemistry; Surface Technology; and Materials Science
