Conferences

Automotive Conference: November 15: electronica

Visitors to this one-day conference will be spoiled for choice: 18 presentations will be heard, three in parallel. The main topics are the sustainability of the supply chain, electric-electronic architecture (E/E) and e-mobility.
The keynotes by Christian Päschel (Varroc Group) on the rapid rise of the Indian electronics industry (see our interview with Bhupinder Singh, CEO of Messe München India, on page 1600), by Wolfram Harnack (ROHM) on the global silicon carbide supply chain and its impact on the expansion of electromobility and by Stephan Berlitz (AUDI) with the somewhat cryptic title 'Digital light for a digital life' will kick things off. The presentations by Fabian Fikeldey (Elmos) on short-range LiDAR systems at a 'knock-down price' of less than 50 euros and by Gunther Spanner (VHS Electronics) on neuromorphic chips - a field of research in bionics and neuroinformatics - which promise a revolution for embedded systems will also be of interest.

Embedded Platforms Conference: November 16: electronica

This conference sees itself as a communication platform for suppliers of components, tools, software and solutions for embedded platforms. In his keynote speech, Volker Ziegler (Nokiar ) will talk about communication requirements in the coming decade, the key technologies of 6G and global trends such as deglobalization, security risks and sustainability, which increasingly need to be taken into account when making business decisions. A total of 35 presentations on topics such as power electronics, FPGA, artificial intelligence and sensor technology await the audience. With regard to the latter complex, the presentation by Andrea Ronco (Center for Project-Based Learning, ETH Zurich), who will discuss the importance of sensor technology for the much-anticipated 'Internet of Things' (IoT) - and an interesting solution for shifting intelligence from the host device, such as a microcontroller, to the sensor itself - will be of particular interest. And several presentations will deal with innovations in gallium nitride devices and components of alloys for high-electron mobility transistors (GaN-HEMT) - Kenichi Yoshimochi (ROHM), Calros Toyos Bada and Nirmana Pererda (Cambridge GaN Devices) will be talking about this in parallel.

Wireless Congress 2022: Systems & Applications: November 16-17

Organized by the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI), Messe München and the trade journal 'Elektronik', this conference focuses on the continuous progress in wireless technology. Among the wide range of topics, the presentation by Roel Ottink (DETC Forum) on the DETC radio standard, which enables interference-free and relatively tap-proof transmission and is currently undergoing a renaissance, and the presentation by Marisol Cabrera Gomez (Monolithic Power Systems) on the SIMetrix simulator for evaluating the behavior of power rails for next-generation embedded processors stand out.

2nd World Ethical Electronics Forum (WEEF)

The second World Ethical Electronics Forum (WEEF) will take place all day on Tuesday. This will be a comprehensive exchange on important topics in electronics, in particular the Sustainable Development Goals, putting the planet and people before profit, ethical HR practices, sustainable resources, e-waste prevention and diversity in STEM subjects. The WEEF INDEX, a list of up to 100 of the most influential personalities in the fields of electronics and ethics, will also be announced - and the most outstanding influencer will receive the WEEF AWARD 2022 live on stage. Hall B3 Stand 540

Youth ahead!

November 18 is the 'electronica Student Day' at the trade fair for students, graduates and young professionals. The focus will be on promoting young people and the necessary networking. There will also be plenty of entertainment: a tech slam, a virtual QR code rally, a racing simulator and VR table football will appeal to young people. The COSIMA Award will also be presented for the ninth time - a competition for students to find possible applications for microsystems in various areas of everyday life, organized by the Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) with the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Research at

Fraunhofer IPMS

The Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems will be presenting Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) technology, i.e. wireless data transmission using light. There will be an opportunity to talk to experts and researchers about Li-Fi. www.ipms.fraunhofer.de/de , Hall B4 Stand 258

Fraunhofer IKTS

Printed electronics as a key technology for many industrial sectors and the enormous advances for the highest frequencies will be presented in more detail at the stand of the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems. Anyone interested in learning more about sensor integration in housings, the development of materials and the functional layers derived from them can find out about the latest state of the art.
