When it comes to energy, we are all required to optimize our entire production processes. This also applies to the drying section. Dryer manufacturer Harter has done pioneering work here with its heat pump drying system.
"30 years ago, nobody knew what a heat pump was and what good it could do," reports Reinhold Specht, Managing Partner at Harter. "Today, in addition to quality and time, energy andCO2 savings are also key purchasing decisions." Harter's exhaust air-free heat pump drying has been subsidized by the state for years. To successfully navigate the jungle of bureaucracy, Harter brought energy consultant Reinald Rüger on board. Rüger now handles the applications for subsidies for the majority of Harter's customers - with a success rate of 100%. Rüger cites an example of a company whose drying process used to require 800,000 kWh. With heat pump drying, the manufacturer achieved a saving of 400,000 kWh. "I can't give any more details for reasons of confidentiality," explains Rüger. "However, I can say that by using a highly efficient heat pump drying system from Harter, an operator saves 40-60% on electrical energy and the correspondingCO2."
