productronica 2023 - trend indicator for electronics production

For four days, from November 14 to 17, 2023, Munich's 'productronica' will once again be the center of the world when it comes to electronics manufacturing - with everything that goes with it.

Research and development, the latest products and processes, a gathering of leading suppliers and users from all industrial regions and their associations, as well as countless suppliers in the global supply chains. This year, 'productronica' is finally running again without pandemic-related restrictions on public traffic - so it can fully unfold again. Albeit under the influence of current geopolitical tensions.

The extent to which these are influencing and complicating the short and long-term developments and business prospects of electronics manufacturing will be revealed in the countless discussions between representatives of affected companies and visitors with specialist knowledge. The economic situation in the industry, with continuing inflationary trends and uncertainties, and the sectoral shortages in the supply of specific semiconductor components will also be the subject of discussion in the various specialist forums and seminars. So this is exactly the right time for a professionally organized event like 'productronica'.

Last time, around 900 exhibitors took part and around 19,000 visitors came to the spacious exhibition grounds in Munich. This time, the number of visitors is likely to be at least as large, if not considerably larger. Both the trade fair management and the supporting associations Semicon Europa, VDMA and ZVEI, along with the many media partners, including our magazine, are counting on this. (We have already presented the main themes and events in detail in PLUS 10/2023).

The finely broken down visitor statistics for 'productronica' show its technical focus and economic importance within the industries that support it. The majority of visitors belong to the general electronics industry. The next largest block of visitors comes from the increasingly important automotive industry, followed by medical electronics. This is followed by the various branches of 'electrical engineering'. A total of eight halls will be occupied by 'productronica' and the parallel 'Semicon Europa' of the global semiconductor association SEMI. As always, the ICM integrated into the trade fair will host the conferences of both events. -wsch-
