Parallel to electronica 2022, Semicon Europa 2022 in Munich will present important innovations in advanced high-tech complexes such as smart mobility, smart medtech, advanced packaging, fab management, materials and other growth drivers in the semiconductor industry. Accordingly, the motto is 'Chips Powering The Data Age'.
Semicon Europa 2022 also addresses the current and critical challenges and market opportunities in the areas of sustainability, employee training and global supply chains. As Europe's largest microelectronics event, it consists of an exhibition section, specialist conferences, forum events and panel discussions.
Some highlights: At the Opening Ceremony, executives from Airbus, Athinia, Edwards Vacuum, imec, Porsche and Samsung will discuss their perspectives on accelerating the rate of innovation, future-proofing sustainability and the required excellence of European manufacturing. The Advanced Packaging Conference will, as always, present the latest solutions for packaging, manufacturing and test equipment and address issues such as design for reliability and heterogeneous integration (HI). The Fab Management Forum brings together experts and their views on critical topics such as chip manufacturing, 'datafication of fabs' and the use of AI (artificial intelligence) in electronics manufacturing in light of the findings from the corona pandemic and its impact on the stability of supply chains.
In conjunction with the Imec Technology Forum ITF Beyond 5G launched by the Belgian research center Imec, knowledgeable experts will discuss the challenges and opportunities of RF data transmission and address suitable new semiconductor materials and building blocks from ICs to modules. The Executive Forum program will focus on 'The Future of Work', addressing the shortage of skilled workers and the issue of diversity. Innovations in materials (atomic level processing, morphology, 3D conformity among other issues) will be discussed in a separate session. The Smart Mobility Forum, led by the SEMI Europe Global Automotive Advisory Council (GAAC), will provide an overview of the automotive industry's current and future supply chains and their issues with regard to the role of the semiconductor industry.
Power semiconductors and electricity supply issues are on the program under the title 'Electrification and Power Semiconductors'. And finally, the Smart and Green Manufacturing Summit is dedicated to the upcoming promotion of the digital transformation of semiconductor manufacturing with proposals for the urgently needed reduction of the CO2 footprint.
Various TechARENA programs in the Semicon Europa exhibition environment will focus on photonic integrated ICs for communication, biosensing and mobility infrastructures. The Smart MedTech Forum is dedicated to collaborative high-tech solutions for healthcare. 'Future of Computing' is a topic for edge devices with lower power consumption and overall higher efficiency. 'From Edge to Cloud' deals with AI-driven mechatronics for stable and resilient manufacturing environments, including electronic systems for intelligent motion control in Industry 4.0 (IMOCO4.E).
