Analog Devices offers the low-noise μModule DC/DC regulator LTM8080 with two outputs and a number of innovations in layout and packaging. It works with input voltages up to 40 V. The front end is a synchronous silent switcher buck regulator followed by two separate low voltage drop regulators (LDO).
The housing of the μModule integrates EMI shielding to suppress switching noise. This results in a low interference level of <1 µVRMS (10 Hz to 100 kHz), 2 nV/√Hz (10 kHz) spot noise and 80 dB PSRR (operating voltage rejection ratio) (100 kHz). Compared to discrete solutions without EMI shielding, LTM8080 reduces the output ripple by up to 70 %. LTM8080 is specifically designed to power digital loads that are sensitive to switching noise, such as data converters, RF transmitters, FPGA I/O, OpAmps, transceivers and medical scanners.
The integrated silent switcher architecture minimizes EMI emissions and makes it possible to meet the requirements of CISPR22 Class B and CISPR25 Class 5 without an input filter. The tunable switching frequency (200 kHz to 2 MHz) and selectable operating modes reduce the risk of frequency interference in extremely low-noise instrumentation and high-speed/high-precision applications.
