Omron Electronic Components Europe has added two new variants to its portfolio of DC power relays. They are designed for high voltages and currents and have a normally open contact (SPST-NO). Their small dimensions (64.2 mm (H) × 86 mm (W) × 47.7 mm (L)) and low coil drive power (12V/0.25 A) make them particularly suitable for applications such as fast DC-EV chargers, batteries and PV inverters with limited installation space.
The DC power relay G9EK1UTU achieves nominal values of 500 VDC at 120 A, the G9EK1E 500 VDC at 200 A. Each relay is bidirectional and has a high maximum interrupting current of 500 A for G9EK1UTU and 1000 A for G9EK1E for emergency shutdown applications. The vibration and shock resistance allows the relays to withstand an impact of up to 100 g, which is particularly important for mobile applications. The service life is at least 200,000 switching cycles, measured at a switching frequency of 3,600 cycles per hour.
The components do not require a closed, gas-filled arc quenching chamber. A proprietary, gasless design cools the arcs sufficiently. The coil connection of the relays is made via plug connectors, the switching contact is connected via a copper rail using an M6 screw connection. The operating temperature range is -40 to +85° C. The ambient humidity range during operation is specified at 5 % to 85 %.
