The company Tec-Joint now produces an approx. 3 mm thick continuous film made of a fire-retardant material and calls it FireStop. The carrier material is laminated glass fabric. FireStop releases water on contact with fire, thus minimizing the flame effect.
The FireStop material is based on a polyolefin. Its smoke gases do not contain any chlorine-bromine or heavy metal compounds. OnlyCO2 and water vapor are released on contact with the flame. This creates a film of water between the flames and the burning material, which minimizes the effect of the flames. This results in longer protection for the material to be protected. This leads to more time to save people and goods.
The FireStop material meets many standards, including the standards DIN 4102-1 / class B1; UL94 / class HF-1 and V-0; DIN 13501-1 / class B-s1, d0. Tec-Joint also has films and sheets with fire protection for the new DIN EN 45545 standard for rail vehicles in its range.
