A genuine world-leading trade fair

A genuine world-leading trade fair

ALUMINIUM 2022 starts on September 27 in Düsseldorf. And after the cancellation in 2020, it will finally be the long-awaited international industry gathering for the aluminum industry and its application industries. The industry's key players will be there, as will the most exciting start-ups and newcomers. The trade fair will also score points with new special shows, cooperation with the most relevant associations and industry partners, numerous hybrid elements - and three days full of content.

When can a trade fair call itself the "world's leading trade fair"? What makes it the most important meeting place for an industry? In terms of pure exhibition space, which represents a global market within the framework of a trade fair, ALUMINIUM (27-29 September 2022) more than lives up to the term because, as in previous years, it represents the global aluminum market within six exhibition halls at the Düsseldorf exhibition grounds.

And another criterion will also be met: The most important players in the industry will be there to guarantee professional exchanges of the highest relevance. Among others, Norsk Hydro, HAI Hammerer, AMAG, ALVANCE, Rio Tinto, Alcoa, Trimet and Assan Alüminyum have already confirmed their participation. In addition to many other well-known industry giants, numerous SMEs and innovative start-ups will also ensure enormous diversity.

The most important issues of our time

But of course there is more to it than that. A world-leading trade fair is expected to provide answers to the most pressing questions of the present and, above all, the future. The focus of ALUMINIUM 2022 will therefore be on topics that are already transforming the industry. And for which the material aluminum offers numerous exciting solutions.

  • Sustainability: Few materials offer as many opportunities for recycling and the circular economy as aluminum. Especially in the context of the circular economy, aluminum is one of the most exciting materials of our time. Numerous innovations in terms of climate-neutral aluminum will be presented at the trade fair.
  • New mobility: The massive increase in pressure to make vehicles lighter and the growing importance of electromobility are making aluminum an increasingly important material in the automotive industry.
  • Additive and digital manufacturing: 3D printing is becoming increasingly established in the industry. However, the topic is far from being fully developed. In Düsseldorf, companies and start-ups alike will be demonstrating exciting new ways of combining the material properties of the metal with the design freedom of additive manufacturing.
  • Digitalization: More efficiency, more effectiveness - innovative engineering and machine software will be another focus of the trade fair.
  • Building and construction: Smart and environmentally friendly cities are one of the megatopics of the near future. Aluminum as a material for façades or window frames will play a central role in this.

Special shows with strong partners

Two of these focus topics will be reflected in their own special shows. "Additive and digital manufacturing" in Hall 5 will showcase the diverse technical possibilities offered by 3D printing. For trade fair project manager Malte Seifert, this is one of the most exciting developments in the industry: "3D printing makes it possible to combine the material properties of aluminum with the design freedom of additive manufacturing. The new approaches this offers cannot yet be fully foreseen." The exclusive partner for this special show is the Aachen Center for Additive Manufacturing (ACAM) at RWTH Aachen University, one of the world's most important research centers in this field.

Sustainable with CRU Group

The experts from the CRU Group will play a key role in shaping the "Sustainability Plaza" program. Based in London, the world-renowned business intelligence company offers, among other things, the most in-depth analyses in the field of aluminum. This partnership is also the result of a long-standing relationship that has now become one of solidarity
Dominic Halahan, Portfolio Director of CRU Events, says: "With RX's leading aluminum exhibition and CRU's 50+ years of experience in market analysis, this partnership offers senior decision makers from the commercial and technical sectors the opportunity to meet in one place, see innovative world-class technical developments from leading exhibitors and gain unique insights from the objective market perspective of leading thought leaders in the commercial sector."

Digital with Quartz Business Media

RX has had a very close content relationship with our colleagues at Quartz Business Media for many years. This has now developed into a true partnership: The British trade media house, which publishes "Aluminium International Today" among others, will also play an important role at ALUMINIUM's "Innovation Plaza Additive & Digital Manufacturing".
"On behalf of the Aluminium International Today team, I am honored and excited to help bring the new Innovation Plaza to life at this year's ALUMINIUM show," says Nadine Bloxsome, Editor & Content Director.

Long-term partnerships

Malte Seifert, Project Manager of the world's leading trade fair, is particularly pleased that the two partnerships are not limited to 2022: "We were able to conclude long-term contracts with both Quartz Business Media and the CRU Group. This ensures that the valuable knowledge of these two institutions will continue to be available for ALUMINIUM."

Content drives the trade fair

Both special shows will be accompanied by Speakers' Corners. They offer a dense program of specialist presentations, focused content and insights on the most important issues relating to additive manufacturing and sustainability. They will provide in-depth information and space for the presentation of products and solutions. The themed stages will be hosted by high-caliber industry partners who will contribute both thematically and professionally.

The focus on content is one of the outstanding features of the world's leading trade fair. One of the highlights: The major ALUMINIUM Conference by Aluminum Germany will be an integral part of the trade fair from 2022. It will be held under the title "Aluminum - the solution provider" in Hall 3 of Messe Düsseldorf and will be thematically aligned with the central focus topics of the trade fair. The ALUMINIUM Conference will continue the approach of the extremely successful ALUMINIUM Business Summit and bring experts, key players and, above all, customers from the aluminum industry to the stage.

Marius Baader, Managing Director of Aluminium Germany, sees the merging of the trade fair and conference as a logical step: "ALUMINIUM is thus positioning itself even better in terms of organization and content and is addressing the cutting-edge topics that are driving our industry today and will continue to do so in the coming years. On this stage, we can communicate the solution expertise of the material and the industry more strongly and clearly."

A showcase of superlatives

Like all trade fairs organized by RX, ALUMINIUM will also offer hybrid elements and provide a digital trade fair portal. In addition to digital exhibitor profiles, it will also be possible to follow the ALUMINIUM Conference live online. There will also be hybrid offers such as audio guided tours, digital trade fair bags, lead scanning of all visitors and much more.

"We will experience a showcase of superlatives in September," promises Malte Seifert, "it will be a trade fair that the industry can be proud of - a real world-leading trade fair."
