The trend in industrial production is moving away from mass-produced tools for everything towards small batch sizes and special solutions for special applications. The CC800® HiPIMS from CemeCon gives ProTech a further leap in quality and the ability to coat the numerous different tool variants with one system.
The CC800® HiPIMS is ideal for coating many different tool variants. With this system, the coatings can be precisely matched to the requirements and implemented within a short time. For example, 12 µm thick coatings for indexable inserts can be deposited in the morning, followed by wafer-thin 1 µm coatings with tight tolerances for micro-tools at lunchtime.
The coatings are extremely smooth, incomparably adhesive, hard and tough at the same time, have a fine-grained, very dense morphology, low residual stresses and high thermal stability. In addition to the high flexibility and first-class quality, no other coating system comes close to the speed of the system. For example, the process for a 3 µm batch takes around 4.5 hours. It can be converted in 30 minutes. This enables four to five different batches per day and thus ensures maximum productivity.
