The German Enamel Association (DEV), the trade association of the enamel industry, once again recorded a negative trend in both sales and revenue in the 2019 financial year. The negative trend was slowed by a very positive fourth quarter of 2019 overall. Total sales volumes fell by an average of 2.02% (previous year: 4.09%). The total sales volume in the last financial year therefore amounted to 6,238 tons. The association reported total sales of EUR 17.704 million in 2019. This represents a decline of 6.00%, following an increase of 5.15% in 2018.
For the steel enamel product group, the association reported sales of 6073 tons in the 2019 reporting year (previous year: 6193 tons). The decrease in volume was therefore 1.93%. In terms of value, a decline of 6.33% to EUR 16.678 million was also recorded. In the smaller market segment of cast enamels, the association also recorded a negative trend in sales of 5.27% (previous year: 6.6%) and in turnover of 0.37%.
