Green steel shipping hall

Green steel shipping hall

With the commissioning of the new dispatch hall at its Treuen site in Saxony, EMW Stahl Service GmbH has not only made a clear commitment to the site, but also to the environment.

The extension with a storage area of over 1,200 square meters and an enclosed space of 10,200 cubic meters significantly improves processes. The storage capacity has increased by around 2000 tons of ready-to-ship material, enabling continuous operation in two shifts from this year onwards. In addition to the efficiency gains, this construction project focused in particular on aspects of sustainability. Only green steel of the X-Carb brand from ArcelorMittal was used for the entire steel construction.

The company has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2030. Numerous projects and activities have already been launched to achieve this. In addition, EMW Stahl Service cooperates with long-standing supply partners in the procurement ofCO2-reduced steels - and naturally also uses this quality in its own construction projects. The plant-independent EMW Steel Service Center maintains long-standing business relationships with steel producers, some of which have existed for decades, and is one of the pioneers in the trade and processing of so-called green steel. Customers can obtain almost all available grades and surface coatings ofCO2-reduced steels from Treuen.
