5-kW DC/DC current transformer and charging unit for hydrogen fuel cells

Delta Electronics, a leading Dutch provider of power supply and thermal management solutions, presented its 5 kW DC/DC power conversion and charging unit for hydrogen fuel cells at Hannover Messe 2023.

Its six-phase boost topology protects the integrity of power supplies by preventing abrupt current spikes. With an input voltage range of 36 to 75 V, it is suitable for applications such as those powered by hydrogen fuel cells. It can also convert output voltages from 43.2 to 57.6 V for lithium-ion batteries.

Another highlight is the 'current limiting' feature, which adjusts the speed of the power supply according to the power generation capacities of different hydrogen fuel cells. The unit has an efficiency of up to 93% - an important factor in reducing the CO2 footprint. The RS-485 Modbus protocol and the integrated digital signal processor (DSP) enable bi-directional real-time communication and sending of the required signals.

Founded in 1971, Delta offers switching power supplies and temperature management products with a successful portfolio of intelligent energy saving systems and solutions in the fields of industrial automation, building automation, telecommunications, data center infrastructure, electric vehicle charging, renewable energy, energy storage and energy display.
