Würth Elektronik is expanding its range of compact MEMS-based sensors with a 3-axis acceleration sensor with integrated 3-axis gyroscope. With selectable measuring ranges and data rates, the new WSEN-ISDS module is highly versatile. To facilitate integration, the sensor provides pre-calibrated, prepared data for the application-specific functionalities 'free fall', 'wake-up', 'touch', 'activity', 'movement', 'inclination' and 'orientation'. The 2.5x3.0x0.86mm sensor in the LGA package has digital I²C and SPI interfaces and a FIFO buffer for storing the output data.
The compact WSEN-ISDS accelerometer and gyroscope can be used in applications ranging from localization and navigation solutions, automation, industrial systems and machines, antenna and platform stabilization to IoT devices, robots and drones. The measurement of linear and angular accelerations ranges from the registration of individual events to high-frequency continuous monitoring of vibrations. A data rate of up to 1400Hz for the accelerometer and up to 937Hz for the gyroscope can be selected. The data rate of the output is up to 6.66kHz. In high-power mode, the module requires 0.69 mA, but the current consumption can be reduced to 0.28 mA in low-power mode for recording individual pulses.
Different measuring ranges can be selected depending on the accelerations to be measured. Würth Elektronik offers the ranges ±2, ±4, ±8 and ±16g for linear acceleration and ±250, ±500, ±1000 and ±2000dps for the change in angular velocity. The sensitivity accuracy is ±3%. The WSEN-ISDS sensor is now available from stock with no minimum order quantity. Würth Elektronik offers developers design-in advice.
