With the addition of the BG27 to the EFR32 family, Silicon Labs is currently offering the smallest device in this class. BG27 comes in the compact WLCSP39 package with the dimensions 2.291 x 2.624 x 0.5 mm³. The BG27 family has also been expanded to include variants in the QFN32 and QFN40 packages, which offer greater flexibility with 4 x 4 mm² and 5 x 5 mm² respectively. BG27 is a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex-M33 core with DSP and floating-point unit. This enables complex applications in conjunction with Bluetooth 5.4. The device is available from distributor Glyn Jones.
BG27 supports an extended voltage range from 0.8 to 3.8 V. The integrated power supply of the BG27 variants in the QFN package are available as 1.8 to 3.8 V Buck DC-DC or as 0.8 to 1.7 V Boost DC-DC versions. The WLCSP39 variant combines buck and boost DC-DC, allowing the BG27 to be operated with just one alkaline or button cell. With an integrated charge counter (coulomb counter) you can keep an eye on the energy consumption with information on the remaining runtime of the application. Four different starter kits are available: xG27-PK6017A (Pro Kit +8 dBm), xG27-PK6018A (Pro Kit Buck + 4 dBm), xG27-PK6019A (Pro Kit Boost + 4 dBm) and xG27-DK2602A (Development Kit).
