New Flash Programmer and new PXIe Controller from Göpel

plus 2023 01 050FlashFOX is an innovative solution for embedded in-system programming (ISP), which reduces programming times, lowers costs and can be flexibly integrated into ATE systems and infrastructures. "With FlashFOX, we are consistently closing the current gap in our product portfolio in the area of stand-alone production programmers and at the same time setting new standards in terms of performance, flexibility and user-friendliness," says Kevin Ernst, Product Manager at Göpel electronic GmbH. "Based on the comprehensive compatibility with our existing technologies and solutions, our users can now use an even better embedded eco-system for their product development and production." The basic structure of the FlashFOX consists of a master unit with up to eight channels and external PODs. Equipped with a high-performance processor system, the programmer can program freely definable targets on all channels simultaneously at maximum speed. All popular serial interfaces and buses (JTAG, SWD, SBW, DAP, SPI, I2C, UART...) are supported as protocols on the basis of a massive model library. In addition to the internal image memory mode, a so-called streaming mode is also possible. In addition to Gbit LAN and USB3.0, the programmer's connectivity also offers WLAN, UART and an ATE interface. Coupled with a groundbreaking new licensing model and the option to define your own protocols, the FlashFOX opens up a new level of flexibility and user-friendliness.

With the new PXIe Controller SFX II PXIe C4/LX, Göpel electronic GmbH is expanding its new SFX II product range of JTAG/Boundary Scan Controllers. It applies a new test and validation methodology that uses instruments embedded in the design to test and program complex boards with greatly reduced physical access. In this context, the multifunctional Mixed Signal Controller provides a unified control platform with four independent, truly parallel Test Access Ports (TAP) for up to 100MHz. This enables the synchronized execution of embedded test, debug and programming operations via boundary scan (IEEE1149.x), processor emulation, chip integrated instruments or the embedded diagnostics method. With a variety of special expansion and configuration features, the SFX II PXIe C4/LX is already equipped for future embedded technologies for testing, validating, debugging and programming. Using the PXI Express platform, external functional tests can be easily combined with embedded procedures. The system is suitable for both development and production. Applications range from design verification of prototypes, hardware debugging and flash programming to gang testing of high volume quantities and diagnosis of defective assemblies from the field.

World premiere of the LPKF CuttingMaster 3246

plus 2023 01 052plus 2023 01 052Thelaser user depaneling systems in LPKF's CuttingMaster 3000 series are equipped with linear drives, which ensures very high positioning accuracy. The result is optimized performance. The working area is up to 500mm x 350mm. The ability to integrate a wide range of different laser sources with different wavelengths and pulse durations in the nanosecond and picosecond range enables use for very different applications and materials. The robust granite table of this series guarantees reliable precision. The CuttingMaster 3000 can also be used for drilling applications. The new LPKF CuttingMaster 3246 had its world premiere in Munich. Its laser power is 46W with a pulse duration in the nanosecond range. The wavelength is 532nm (green). Like all laser depaneling systems in the CuttingMaster 3000 series, the new 3246 also works with the LPKF CleanCut process, which produces cuts with outstanding precision and technical cleanliness.

'Der Schlaue Klaus' from Optimum also exhibited by Prettl

The assistance system 'Der Schlaue Klaus' was exhibited both at the stand of the manufacturer Optimum datamanagement solutions and by the user Prettl Electronics. It is a camera-based digital worker assistance system designed for maximum process reliability. Manual workstations in the area of low-volume high-mix production cannot be fully automated. As Prettl Electronics' quality standards are also very high in this area, the EMS service provider uses the assistance system Der Schlaue Klaus. In this multi-layered production environment, the cognitive assistance system ensures that manual work is carried out safely and relieves the strain on employees when producing small batch sizes. "The Smart Klaus assistance system has enabled us to streamline production processes, identify process fluctuations and time expenditure and increase the productivity of manual production by over 20%," says Miroslaw Dziuba, Managing Director and Head of the Prettl Electronics plant in Radeberg, highlighting the positive experiences. The assistance system is offered both as a preconfigured and a customized model. Prettl Electronics uses the customized assistance system Der Schlaue Klaus THT. This is equipped with a powerful computer, a high-performance graphics card and a swivel-mounted 20 megapixel camera. The camera can capture details that are difficult for the human eye to see. The modular assistance system also has a touch panel and two screens, with one of the two monitors showing the live image. In addition to a high variance of components and their polarity, colors, orientations and perspectives, the assistance system also recognizes data matrix codes, which is why these no longer have to be scanned in manually. The Smart Klaus assistance system also independently accesses neural networks. Thanks to the cognitive system properties, the assistance system can record key figures, operating data as well as measurement and test results and document them together with the images taken. Workers can therefore carry out new assembly tasks and be deployed flexibly, even without in-depth product knowledge or specific training.

New fault diagnosis system from Polar Instruments

The new GRS200 fault diagnosis system for the repair of electronic assemblies presented by Polar Instruments is based on the proven passive analog signature analysis and the comparison of a good assembly with the test specimen. This allows typical faults in electronics production as well as in service and repair to be localized quickly and without circuit knowledge, such as

  • missing components
  • reverse polarity components
  • incorrect component values or component types
  • counterfeit components
  • short circuits or interruptions

The GRS200 system consists of analog signature hardware and powerful software with LIVE signature analysis, program mode, CAD data display, circuit diagram integration, assembly photos, repair reports and the optional connection of a digital multimeter.

Viscom with a wide range of topics and new presentations

plus 2023 01 053Viscom presented a wide range of state-of-the-art 3D AOI and 3D X-ray inspection systems. Special highlights were the new digital service vConnect and the 3D-AXI iX7059 PCB Inspection XL as well as the new 3D-MXI system X8011-III. Carsten Salewski, Executive Board Member for Sales, Marketing and International Business at Viscom, went into the details at the stand press conference.

Smart condition monitoring, centralized and efficient IT management service, high-performance and scalable processing of large amounts of data were presented in the context of the new modular platform vConnect. vConnect offers a transparent view of the availability and performance of all inspection systems in use and the associated peripheral devices. Complex production processes can thus be protected even better than before against unexpected disruptions and delays.

The powerful 3D AXI system can inspect flat assemblies up to a length of 1600 mm for solder beads, damage, voids and many other potential defects. An innovative dynamic 3D imaging process combined with user-friendly software generates complete volumes and individual CT slice images exceptionally quickly for accurate and repeatable measurements.

The application possibilities of manual and semi-automatic X-ray were demonstrated with the new 3D MXI system X8011-III from Viscom. Like its predecessor X8011-II PCB, the X8011-III offers maximum flexibility for inspection tasks, extremely high resolutions and brilliant, highly detailed image quality. It supports process optimization and production start-ups, helps with the processing of complaints and is also ideal for quality controls in high-mix, low-volume production. And the heat map also provides detailed information about the radiation dose on the system or as part of an automatic inspection report.
