Product of the month - Cool-running relay for voltage stabilization in micro power systems

Omron Electronic Components Europe offers a compact and efficient 800 VAC / 200 A high power relay for PCS (Power Conditioner) in renewable micro power generation, inverter and UPS applications. These applications require low heat generation. The new G9KA acts as a relay solution for grid connection and safety shutdown. It offers a very low contact resistance of 0.2 mΩ for this class of relay, reducing the heat generated by more than 30 %. This reduces the need for thermal management components (heat sinks or fans) and increases reliability by reducing heating of surrounding components.

Steve Drumm, Business Development Manager for Energy Applications at Omron, comments: "Microgeneration from renewable sources is driving growth in distributed power. Suppressing heat generation is important. Our development team has innovated to achieve low contact resistance that simplifies thermal design and reduces design costs. It is also suitable for inverters and UPS systems." With a size of 50 x 50 x 50 mm, G9KA has a 30% smaller footprint and lower height than a comparable contactor. The relay is UL recognized and EN/IEC TUV, UL and CQC certified. It is supplied with PCB connections and is designed for ambient temperatures up to 85 °C.
