The BTL-certified ASi BACnet/IP controller with integrated safety unit up to SIL3 (BWU4001) from Bihl+Wiedemann combines the advantages of BACnet and ASi/ASi Safety in one device. It is therefore ideally suited for controlling safe fire protection and smoke extraction dampers, for example.
All data from the field level is available in BACnet via the controller, without the need for additional converters. The device, which has two ASi masters and an integrated safety unit, can be used as a stand-alone small controller for the aforementioned fire protection application, which requires a safety level of SIL2. However, it can also be connected to a higher-level BACnet DDC or GLT and thus act as a gateway between the controller and the ASi installation. Extensive diagnostic functions for rapid system analysis are then available via BACnet, web server or as a plain text message on the gateway's integrated display.
While conventional parallel wiring of just a few safety components leads to huge cable bundles and kilometers of cables, ASi allows all modules to be connected to a single two-wire cable in a free topology. The one yellow profile cable or the orange E90 cable not only supplies the safety components with data and power (safely up to SIL3/PLe), it also drastically reduces the wiring effort and therefore the fire loads.
Subsequent changes and extensions to applications can also be implemented much more easily with the ASi-BACnet solution.
