Recycling of contact probes

Recycling of contact probes

Contact probes for testing electrical and electronic components are made from a wide variety of materials, depending on the application requirements. Nickel, silver or gold are often used as surface finishes.

The gold finish in particular makes the contact probes interesting for recycling later on, as recycling specialist MTM-Ruhrzinn GmbH from Essen has discovered. "Extracting precious metals from secondary material is the most sustainable and ecological way to conserve resources and make precious metals usable again in the cycle," says Managing Director Dan Mutschler. MTM Ruhrzinn offers to take back contact pins and contact receptacles, as well as entire adapters, and remanufacture them. These are recycled in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner and the materials are returned to the raw material cycle.
