The Swiss-based Cicor Group has now completed the acquisition of SMT Elektronik GmbH, Dresden, which was announced at the end of April 2022. By integrating the new acquisition, which was founded in 1990 and has around 130 employees, Cicor is expanding its Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) business in Germany in a targeted manner and, according to its own assessment, will thus play an even more important role "in the largest market for sophisticated electronics in Europe". SMT Elektronik and the Cicor company RHe Microsystems GmbH, located just a few minutes away, will now be managed as an organizational unit under the name Cicor Germany. This reorganization offers considerable synergies.
SMT Elektronik has an attractive and loyal customer base, most of whom belong to Cicor's target markets of medical technology and industry. The company had sales of around € 20 million in the 2021 financial year and an EBITDA margin similar to that of the Cicor Group. The integration into the Group's EMS division opens up new opportunities for existing customers of both companies - not to mention offering synergies for new customers: Complementary technologies and optimized material procurement result in a broader range of offerings. SMT customers will also benefit from Cicor's global presence and comprehensive range of services. As part of the transaction, Cicor is also acquiring the data logger business (Monilog ), which SMT has successfully built up over the last few years. They serve the fast-growing market for risk logging and measurement and will be further developed as part of the Cicor Group in the future.
