KATEK subsidiary beflex establishes new prototyping center in Hamburg

Since July 1, beflex electronic has been developing a new EMS competence center in Hamburg. Together with the existing locations in Frickenhausen near Stuttgart, Witten and Munich, the prototyping specialist, which is part of the KATEK Group, is also continuing its Germany-wide location strategy here in order to be able to optimally combine customer proximity and time-to-market advantages. The site ensures a seamless transition from prototyping to small series production, primarily for customers from the aerospace, medical and industrial electronics sectors. High-volume production is also ensured in the KATEK network.

"We will also focus on rapid prototyping at the Elbe. Primarily for customers in the aerospace and medical technology sectors, as well as those who develop high-quality industrial products and require complex electronic assemblies. The great advantage is that we can seamlessly transition from prototyping to small series production at the Hamburg site and only have to change the plant, but not the supplier, for large series production," says beflex Managing Director Jens Arnold.

According to him, beflex electronic thus completes the range of services in the KATEK Group structure by an important factor: from the production of highly complex electronic prototypes within a week to the transition to series production of any batch size - all from a single source.

Andreas Klinger is responsible for business development in northern Germany

Since the beginning of July, Andreas Klinger, who was born in Hamburg and studied electrical engineering, has been responsible as Business Development Manager for maintaining existing business relationships in the north and strategically aligning new business for beflex Hamburg. The 55-year-old husband and father of two sons has long been familiar with the northern German market. With two decades of experience in the EMS industry, he has focused in the past on projects for the development and introduction of new products with design for cost, manufacturing and testability. Klinger also sees this as the key to his strategy for the Hamburg site: "Accompanying the customer from the initial idea to the finished product changes the collaboration into a strategic partnership in which individual solutions are generated as a team and the experience of all sides is incorporated. This makes the product launch process faster and more efficient and ensures that the expertise remains with the customer and that production takes place in close proximity."

Following Andreas Klinger's appointment to the key position in Business Development, the positions of SMD Operator, Project Manager and other specialists will soon be filled. The establishment of the new beflex site in Hamburg is a clear sign from the KATEK Group: prototyping is being expanded with a view to the future and is seen as an indispensable part of the overall portfolio within the group of companies.

The start of production on the Elbe is planned for the third quarter of 2020 and will offer northern German customers even closer cooperation with the associated time-to-market advantages.
