Infineon launches new 8- and 16-Mbit memories. The EXCELON FRAM (Ferroelectric RAM) memories meet the permanent data acquisition requirements of next generation automotive and industrial systems against data loss in harsh operating environments. They support a voltage range of 1.71 to 3.6 V and a data throughput of 54 MB/s via a low pin count interface.
They are available in RoHS-compliant 24-ball FBGA and combine ultra-low power operation with high-speed interfaces, non-volatility and unlimited read and write cycle endurance. The read and write performance of the serial memories is equivalent to battery-backed static RAMs with parallel interface and 35 ns access time. With high write speed, endurance and leading energy efficiency, the EXCELON FRAM is suitable for data recording in automotive, industrial and medical applications.
Infineon offers a broad portfolio of serial and parallel FRAMs with memory densities from 4 to 16 Mbit for 1.8 to 5.5 V power supply. They offer a virtually unlimited lifetime of one hundred trillion read and write cycles, making them the solution for write-intensive applications. These FRAMs are suitable for highly reliable and cost-effective permanent memory solutions in automotive, industrial, data processing, networking, smart meter and multifunction printer applications. The new FRAMs in a 24-ball FBGA package support operating temperatures up to 105 °C. The AEC-Q100-qualified, automotive-grade-3 16 Mbit devices are available in the same package.
