Rogers' Magtrex 555 high impedance laminates are the first commercially available low-loss laminates with controlled permeability and dielectricity. Magtrex 555 laminates enable antenna designers to universally commercialize their antenna designs with high efficiency through flexibility and targeted optimization toward further miniaturization, improved bandwidth and environmentally responsible electrical performance.
The laminate materials are constructed with a proprietary low-loss filler ceramic with high resistivity and a thermoplastic PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) high-temperature composite matrix. This construction results in systems that are pliable and suitable for through-hole vias, as well as being mechanically and electrically stable. The laminates offer well-matched X/Y axis permeability, a permeability value of 6 and a dielectric constant of 6.5, in addition to low magnetic and dielectric losses below 500 MHz. Moisture absorption is also low. The Magtrex 555 high-impedance laminates also have a low X, Y and Z CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion) value, which is closely matched to that of copper for high thermal reliability. The laminates are available in thicknesses from 40 to 260 mils (1 mm = 39.37 mils). They are offered with or without a copper coating.
