Mark Mattingley-Scott is the European head of Quantum Brilliance, responsible for the business development of the venture capital-financed German-Australian manufacturer of quantum computing hardware. Born in the UK, he heads up the new European headquarters in Stuttgart and is responsible for expanding strategic partnerships.
Company locations with highly specialized engineering and development teams will be established in Freiburg and Ulm. Quantum Brilliance will manufacture quantum accelerators based on synthetic diamonds in small form factors that operate at room temperature and do not require cooling with liquid helium, for example. This will make it possible to provide quantum computing power in conventional computing systems in the future. The first product generation is already ready for the market - in the size of a 19-inch server rack module. Soon, the dimensions should only be the size of a lunch box. The scientific basis for this technology comes from the Center for Applied Quantum Technology at the University of Stuttgart.
In his 31 years at IBM, Mattingley-Scott has held various management positions, most recently as IBM Quantum Ambassador for EMEA and Asia-Pacific. This makes him an experienced expert in the still young quantum computing market; insiders even refer to him as a 'veteran'.
