With expected sales growth of 13%, the printed electronics community is slightly less optimistic than in fall 2023 (+18%). The outlook continues to brighten up until 2025, with the industry expecting sales growth of 17% for the coming year.
More than half of companies expect to increase their investment in production over the next six months (53%), while the other half expect investment to remain at a constant level. A similarly stable picture can be seen in research and development: 52% of the companies surveyed plan to expand their R&D activities. The remaining companies intend to continue their activities at the same level.
The positive overall picture is reinforced by the fact that 74% of respondents expect the sector to continue to develop positively in 2024

The biannual survey is conducted by the OE-A, an international working group within the VDMA. In the survey, international members - from material manufacturers to end users - were asked about turnover, incoming orders, investments and employment.
The positive overall picture is reinforced by the fact that 74% of respondents expect the industry to continue to develop positively in 2024 (Oct. 2023: 46%). This increase shows that the industry is convinced that further impetus will come from end-user sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive, medical and pharmaceuticals as well as packaging.
