Strategic partnership for ECAD/MCAD integration

Strategic partnership for ECAD/MCAD integration

Electronic design automation (EDA) specialist EMA Design Automation, based in Rochester, New York, and Hawk Ridge Systems, based in Silicon Valley, California, have formed a strategic partnership to offer complete ECAD/MCAD convergence for the entire electronic product design flow. EMA Design Automation is known as a value-added reseller for Cadence, Allegro and OrCAD.

The company complements these to provide a comprehensive range of EDA tools, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integrations, services, training and technical support. Hawk Ridge Systems provides software for 3D design, manufacturing and 3D printing solutions in the U.S. and Canada based on the entire Dassault Systèmes portfolio, including Solidworks, 3DExperience, Simulia and other analysis, product data management and productivity tools.

The two companies decided to work together because the design of electronic products is becoming increasingly complex and extensive, while traditional boundaries between electrical and mechanical tasks make it difficult for design teams to meet design goals and timelines.

"As the ECAD and MCAD domains continue to converge, there is a great need to achieve a fully integrated design environment for the entire electrical and mechanical product development process," said Emmanuel Marcano, President and CEO of EMA Design Automation. Dale Ford, CEO of Hawk Ridge Systems, adds: "Our partnership allows us to jointly provide customers with expert advice and support for electronics and electromechanical systems."
