The Bodo Möller Chemie Group is taking over the distribution of the world's leading co-polymer products from Kraton Polymers in the key regions of Southern Africa. From April, the products and relevant application knowledge will be available from Bodo Möller Chemie's African presence in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Kraton polymers are used in numerous applications: adhesives and sealants, coatings, consumer and personal care products, automotive and many other plastic products. Kraton co-polymers are characterized by a combination of high strength, a very wide Shore A hardness range and low viscosity for easy thermoplastic processing. Added to this are Kraton's high-performance additives, which enable the successful upcycling of recycled plastics.
Strengthening the presence in Africa
"Kraton has a leading position in numerous markets, can offer an enormous production capacity as a manufacturer of polymers like few others and is therefore a valuable supplier and partner for us. Together with our product solutions in the field of plastics stabilization, we offer African customers a complete solution from a single source in the field of polymer processing," says Mark Hepburn, Managing Director of Bodo Möller Chemie South Africa (PTY) Ltd. The Bodo Möller Chemie Group is thus strengthening its presence in the African market and further expanding its pioneering role as a distributor and application specialist. USBC and HSBC block copolymers, are important products for the improvement and specification of material properties, for example, it brings elastic advantages, the material can thus deform, but returns to its original shape and thus meets high demands for special applications such as polymer-modified asphalt. Soft thermoplastic elastomers are used in the packaging industry as well as for adhesive tape solutions, hoses and tubes, in the medical sector and as coating and sealing materials.
CirKular+™ Sustainable solutions for the circular economy
Kraton's new product line, CirKular+™, enables a holistic approach to the life cycle of plastic products and the circular economy. CirKular+™ products are multi-resin compatibilizers and performance-enhancing additives for the upcycling of mixed post-consumer (PCR) and post-industrial (PIR) polyolefin streams in a variety of applications. At low dosages, CirKular+™ additives help to improve mechanical properties, increase PCR content and design recyclability, enabling a mono-material approach to replace a combination of polyolefins used with other, less recyclable resins. CirKular+™ additives are a drop-in solution for recyclers, converters and brand owners. Upcycling increases the value of reusing the recycled plastic materials throughout the value chain.
For the cosmetics industry, Kraton introduced the Ellamera product line for the formulation of beauty and cosmetic products last year. The versatile product range enables a new formulation of oil-based cosmetic products. All the products mentioned here are sold and distributed in Africa by Bodo Möller Chemie.
