Metall- und Oberflächenchemie Sperzel GmbH (Metachem) once again hosted an anodizing seminar in Lüdenscheid in mid-May. The fully booked event was aimed at users from the fields of extrusion, fittings technology, contract anodizing, hard anodizing and in-house production. 61 participants from the DACH region and the Netherlands accepted the invitation to the Mercure Hotel in Lüdenscheid.
Five speakers from Metachem led through the individual processes from aluminium production, mechanical pre-treatment, contacting, cleaning, pickling, polishing and decapping to the actual anodizing process. The lecture program was supplemented by excursions to Otto Fuchs KG in Meinerzhagen, to Norsk Hydro Extrusions in Lüdenscheid with impressions of aluminium melting, billet production and subsequent extrusion, and to Metachem in Lüdenscheid with a tour of the anodizing pilot plant, among other things. On the following day, the topics "Electrolytic and chemical dyeing", "Hot and cold compaction" and "Quality control" were on the agenda. The presentations on the topics of "Fault patterns" and "Troubleshooting" were another focal point. Advice on self-help in the event of damage and the occurrence of faults in the process sequence was welcome. A presentation by Remondis SE & Co. KG on the recycling of used acids and waste lyes in the production of alumin products based on sodium aluminate rounded off the seminar.
