The Extreme High-Speed Laser Material Deposition EHLA developed at the Fraunhofer ILT has already proven itself many times over. The process is particularly successful in protecting metallic components against corrosion and wear.
The EHLA coating process has now also won over toolcraft AG near Nuremberg. The company uses a TRUMPF system with an additional integrated EHLA work head, which enables laser cutting and welding as well as laser deposition welding. In the future, the Middle Franconian company plans to merge robotics and 3D printing and to promote the path to hybrid additive manufacturing with the EHLA system.
