Millions invested in tin and copper coating

To mark the ceremonial commissioning of the recently completed electroplating plant for tin coatings, surface specialist Galvanotechnik Kessel invited around 50 guests from business, politics and the press as well as its own employees to the company site in Vechelde on February 19.

Managing Directors Marc Schreckenberg and Bernd Buhse opened the event and welcomed the numerous guests. Among others, major customer WAGO Kontakttechnik, whose products are to be coated using the new electroplating system, was represented. After the welcoming ceremony, Marc Schreckenberg gave a brief presentation on the completed project with a total investment volume of around 3.5 million euros and a planning and construction period of around 2.5 years.

The system extends over numerous baths and stations over a total distance of almost 50 meters and has a total bath volume of approx. 30,000 liters. Downstream is a treatment plant for the waste water produced. The managing directors then symbolically cut a barrier tape for access to the plant and allowed the first drum to "retract". 6.5 drums per hour and a total production capacity of over 1,000 tons per year should be able to be processed at full capacity in 3-shift operation.

Galvanotechnik Kessel has been based in Vechelde since 1970 and has developed into a renowned international supplier of coating solutions for numerous metalworking industrial customers. In addition to the automotive industry, these include the electrical and mechanical engineering industries. The company currently employs around 120 people.
