The US metal finishing company Surface Technology Inc (STI) from Ewing, New Jersey, has set up a website offering assistance to electroless nickel metal finishers. It offers real-time troubleshooting and technical support.
There is a chronic shortage of experienced electroplaters in the U.S. and stores often rely on subcontractors for assistance. The website is designed to provide technical support to electroless nickel platers around the world. It is called EN 24/7 and can be accessed at en-247.com. The company is working on offering the service as a free mobile app. "(...)The support (...) is less about analyzing the plating bath itself and more about providing holistic advice on the entire process that impacts product quality, productivity and profitability," explained STI President Michael Feldstein. In addition to the live chat feature, the service offers educational resources, basic troubleshooting advice and how-to videos. Additional content and the integration of translation features are in development. STI has distinguished itself in the industry by specializing in electroless nickel, for example, with its One-Plate process for electroless nickel plating, which enables the preparation solution and post-dosing of the bath with just a single component, as well as for composite diamond coating, an electroless nickel-diamond coating for improved hardness and wear resistance.
