The shortage of tradespeople has Germany firmly in its grip. As Jörg Dittrich, the new president of the skilled trades introduced in the last issue, said, there could be a wait of up to six months for an appointment by the end of 2023. Around 250,000 skilled trade jobs in Germany are unfilled. The electroplating industry also has similar recruitment problems to the skilled trades.
Now a Flim clip called "The Last Craftsman" has been released, which stylistically takes up the topic in a mixture of the zombie apocalypse "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones". The video, which presents the social background to the shortage of tradespeople in a humorous yet accurate way, is currently doing the rounds on social networks, including the youth platform TikTok. It was shot and conceived by the team from the satirical show Aurel Original, led by comedian Aurel Mertz, who also plays the lead role in the film. It remains to be seen whether the video has the clout to turn the tide on the craftsmen's market. In view of the huge demand for craftspeople, among other things to implement the transformation of the economy and society, the film is certainly a glimmer of hope.
