Brenntag, a supplier of chemicals and ingredients, has realized an innovative product launch in the semi-finished products segment together with Centroplast: Thanks to its specific material technology, POM CentroGlide combines excellent gliding properties with optimum non-stick effects and food conformity.
The synthesis of good wear and abrasion properties with very low stickiness and adhesion, two characteristics that are in principle contradictory, means significant economic and product quality benefits for users.
POM CentroGlide prevents materials from sticking to production components and thus minimizes the mechanical stress on production parts. Thanks to reduced friction and wear values, the service life and utilization of technical systems can be increased and downtimes and work processes can be optimized. In addition, longer cleaning and replacement intervals significantly reduce maintenance and spare parts costs. The non-stick effect does not have to be additionally applied to surfaces, but is inherent in the material.
This makes CentroGlide a particularly good non-stick material compared to PTFE, even for complex components such as injection molding applications. The combination of the properties of POM, such as high strength, rigidity and toughness, outstanding machinability and high dimensional stability as well as excellent recovery elasticity, with the specific CentroGlide features predestines the new material as an alternative to a more cost-intensive PTFE, for example.
