Wuppermann generates its own electricity from solar energy in Hungary

Wuppermann commissioned a new photovoltaic system at its production site in Hungary in January 2022. The expected annual energy production of the plant, which was built on the roofs of the Wuppermann Hungary Kft (WH) plant in Győr-Gönyű, is more than 2,000 MWh. This saves WH around 775 tons ofCO2 per year and covers over 5% of the site's total energy consumption. The nominal output of the photovoltaic system is 1.3 MW and the investment volume amounts to 1.3 million euros.

The photovoltaic system is an important milestone for the Wuppermann Group on its way to becoming aCO2-neutral steel processor. The project is part of the sustainability strategy with which Wuppermann, in addition to consistently reducing its energy requirements, is focusing on the use of electricity from 100 %CO2-free sources in order to realize aCO2-neutral production process as early as 2025.
